Stations of the Cross

Third Station

Jesus Falls for the First Time

One of God’s greatest gifts to us in Jesus’ incarnation is an example of the limits of our humanity, as we see in Jesus collapsing beneath the weight of his circumstances.

For Reflection

It is never easy to break down, to face our own limits and experience our helplessness. Prayers at times like this can be tearful but also allow us to lay down the burden of being strong and get some rest for our souls.

Action

Take a rock from the box below. Hold it and feel its weight as you consider all that is heavy for you today. Present this burden to God. Ask for God’s help. If it feels like an appropriate response, leave your rock at the foot of the cross.

When you’re ready, offer this prayer and move to the next station. map

We adore you, O Christ and we bless you. Because by your Holy Cross, you have redeemed the world. Amen.
