News for September 22-28

Be Thou My Vision: a 20/20 stewardship campaign

Our annual stewardship campaign has officially kicked off. This year’s theme, Be Thou My Vision: a 20/20 stewardship campaign, encourages us to look more closely at the vision we share and the way we are called to participate in God’s vision for this community and the world.

We are emailing out (and posting on our website) a series of short video reflections, each of which will explore a different angle on the image of vision. Each video comes with a deep prayer that we can indeed catch a glimpse of God’s vision for this place and have the spiritual courage to answer the call.

Pledge cards will be mailed to member households, made available at church, and can also be filled out online. Timely submission is incredibly important to our budgeting process, so your reply by Sunday, November 3 would be greatly appreciated!

Book Signing & Conversation

Fr. Stuart is a co-editor and contributor to the newly published volume Contemplation and Community: A Gathering of Fresh Voices for a Living Tradition. Grace Church will hold a special afternoon reading, signing, and conversation on Sunday, October 6 at 3:00 PM in the Parish Hall.

So that we have a count for refreshments and the number of books to have available for sale at the signing event, please register here if you plan to attend. Attendees at the signing will receive a 10% discount on the purchase of the book from the Cathedral Bookstore. Please note that books ordered from Amazon may not arrive prior to the signing.

Please know it is not necessary to purchase a book in order to attend. All are welcome to join us for refreshments and conversation!

COG Penny War Continues

The COG Penny War to benefit Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research continues all month and they have already raised over $1,000! Collection containers are located in the COG hallway. Each grade level GAINS points for pennies, paper bills, and checks put in their own jar and can LOWER points for other grade levels by putting silver coins in those jars. See details. There will be a prize for the grade level with the most points. Anyone can donate! To donate online choose “Spring Fling Donation” as the type of payment and in the “Memo” section indicate which class you want the donation to go toward.

Steeple Lights

As part of the Sanctuary Plaza construction project, some of our steeple light fixtures and wiring have been temporarily removed. The power will remain off until the lights have been reinstalled and it’s safe to re-energize the wiring. The entry awning light at the base of the tower, the roof mounted fixture that lights the back of the tower, and the lights inside the upper tower near the bells will continue to operate as usual.
