News for March 15: Concert + Evensong, Building & Grounds Update, and more

Concert + Choral Evensong for the Feast of St. Patrick

Friends of Music is pleased to welcome Will Buthod to Grace Church on Sunday, March 15 at 4 PM.

His organ recital of Irish music will be followed by a Choral Evensong for the Feast of Saint Patrick. Sung at the close of day in Cathedrals and churches all over the world, Choral Evensong focuses on the ancient practice of singing evening prayers. The congregation listens, joins in the hymns, and adds their own prayers to those of the choir.

A reception will follow in the parish hall.

Will Buthod, pianist, organist, composer, and conductor, has worked in church ministry for the past 27 years. Buthod is known for employing a wide range of styles to fit any given situation, and is in demand in multiple areas, from Gospel to Salsa and Bluegrass. Outside his role as Minister of Music at Holy Trinity, Buthod serves at Candler School of Theology (Emory University), as Director of the gospel choir, Candler Voices of Imani.

Women’s Book Study

All women of Grace are invited to our monthly women’s book study. We meet in the youth room on the third Thursday of every month, and we would love for you to join us for our next gathering.

This month, we will meet on March 19 at 5:30 PM for a time of fellowship and catching up, with our discussion beginning promptly at 6 PM. We are excited to start a new book: Braving the Truth: Essential Essays for Reckoning with and Reimagining Faith by Rachel Held Evans. Rachel was a beloved voice for those seeking inclusivity and a sanctuary for questioning faith, and her legacy continues through this treasury of her most influential essays.

If possible, please read part one before we meet. You can find the book available for purchase on Amazon.

We look forward to seeing you there and sharing in this discussion together.

Outdoor Eucharist

The next Outdoor Eucharist will be March 22 at Linwood Nature Preserve. The outdoor service will meet at 8:15 AM, at the same time as the regular Rite I Holy Eucharist in the nave. By holding both services concurrently, we aren’t adding anything extra to the schedule—we’re simply creating more space for imagination, connection, and the movement of the Spirit.

A Sound Bath for Lent

We will gather in the nave on Tuesday, March 24 at 6:00 PM for meditation, stillness, and healing with Rebecca Turk.

We know that everyone can benefit from a time of reflection and deep meditation, and all are welcome to participate—and bring a friend to share the experience with.

For the most restful experience, bring your yoga mat, a blanket, and any bolster or pillow you prefer and experience the sound bath resting in Savasana. You may also choose to experience it sitting in the pews, and you’re welcome to bring a cushion or pillow to make you more comfortable.

The March 24 sound bath at Grace is free and open to the community. Doors will open at 5:30 PM.

Youth Pilgrimage Interest Meeting

EYC families interested in participating in the Boston Pilgrimage, October 10-13, will meet in the youth room after the 10:45 service on Sunday, March 29.
