The goal of the Participation cluster at Grace Church is to build and sustain a community of connected, joyful, loving and caring Christians through various offerings and activities. Below are some typical offerings, some of which are still on hold. Please visit our calendar to see what’s coming up as we transition back into a more “normal” routine at this stage of the coronavirus pandemic!
Parishioners typically gather together every Wednesday night during the academic year to enjoy food and fellowship. The meals are sometimes followed by programs focused on formation or fellowship/community building.
The Parish Picnic is an annual celebration typically held every May to celebrate spring and the end of another academic year of ministry and mission by our church. Join a few hundred of your best friends to Eat, Pray & Play!
Grace adults gather monthly to watch and discuss movies addressing a wide variety of subjects. A very casual occasion, participants often bring a little food and drink to share, and the popcorn is always plentiful. Informal discussion before and after the movie often adds to both the enjoyment and understanding of the films viewed. Movie Night is a great opportunity to be with a congenial gathering of Grace folks and friends.
Movie Night happens in the Youth Room of The Grace Center at 7:00 p.m., typically (but not always!) on the 2nd Friday each month. All are invited!
The women of Grace typically gather annually for a weekend of rejoicing, reflection, and renewal at the Montreat Retreat and Conference Center in North Carolina. This year’s theme is Connections, and together we’ll work on reconnecting all of the pieces that may seem scattered these days. We’ll look specifically at ways to (re)connect with ourselves, with one another, and with God, and see how the Biblical Women who have come before us led the way.
A small group of men gather at 7:00 AM on Monday mornings for coffee and conversation at Panera. Another group gathers for pub theology at Tap It every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. All men are warmly invited to participate.
Twice a year, all Grace Church members are invited to participate in a Foyer Group. Foyer Groups consist of six to eight adults who meet in one another’s homes for a meal and fellowship over the course of approximately six months. The groups gather at the convenience of the members, with the first meeting being held at the home of the group’s captain. A sign-up period is held after which the names of those interested are assigned to groups. Not only is participation in Foyers fun, but it also facilitates deeper relationships among Grace Church members.
The Grace Church Hike Group is a sub-group of Parish Life and provides an opportunity for the enjoyment of numerous outdoor events and activities. While our primary activity is hiking, we offer several events each year that do not require any hiking and are suitable for those who can’t take part in our regular hikes. The mission of the Hike Group is to appreciate, value, and respect the relationship of our outdoors with our faith for a positive impact in our lives.
Other activities include Advent wreath making, Shrove Tuesday pancake suppers, Mardi Gras celebrations, Palm Sunday Cross construction, receptions, and special outings throughout the year.
