Wells Cathedral

Choir Residency & Parish Pilgrimage

for Choir, Parishioners, Family, Friends
from July 18–26, 2027
at Wells Cathedral
in Wells, Somerset, England

Join Grace Episcopal Church as we celebrate our Bicentennial with a pilgrimage and choir residency at Wells Cathedral, July 18–26, 2027. Inspiring pilgrims for nearly 850 years, Wells Cathedral is located in the medieval heart of England’s smallest city, Somerset, England. This journey combines remarkable sacred music with unforgettable English heritage sites—traveling together from London to the West Country for worship, fellowship, and discovery.

Choir residency Optional run out day trips to castles, gardens, museums, and cathedrals organized by Charter Travel, England. For members of the choir there will be daily rehearsals and the opportunity to sing Evensong in one of England’s great medieval cathedrals. A guided cathedral tour will be offered to all travelers.
Day trips and pilgrimage sites Explore Bath and the Roman Baths, tour Berkeley Castle, and enjoy a full-day excursion to Bristol including Bristol Cathedral, St. Mary Redcliff, and the SS Great Britain. Visit Stonehenge and Glastonbury Abbey. Enjoy free time in Wells for shopping, museums, or the Bishop’s Palace.
Sunday worship Conclude the residency/pilgrimage with a Sung Eucharist and final Evensong, followed by a farewell group dinner.

As part of the preparation for the pilgrimage, Fr. Stuart will offer classes and conversations leading up to the trip, focusing on the rich aspects of Celtic spirituality and practice within the Christian tradition. Then, while we are there together, we will have times for morning prayer and reflection, grounding our evening devotions with the Evensong spaces in the cathedral.

We invite Grace parishioners, choir members, family, and friends to be part of this once-in-a-generation celebration. Whether a member of the choir or traveling as a pilgrim, you’ll be welcomed into a shared week of prayer, music, exploration, and companionship.
