The Great Vigil on Saturday evening is the pivotal service that symbolically marks the transition of Jesus Christ from death to life, with the celebration continuing on Easter Day.
Follow the links for details of our Easter services.. We invite you to join us – all are welcome!
We are immensely appreciative for the enthusiasm and financial support of the parish that allows Friends of Music to offer meaningful music for our services and concert series. To date we have received 40 pledges helping us to reach 56% of our goal which is $30,000. If you have not yet pledged, please consider a gift so that we might continue to honor music of beauty and worth in this precious space we call Grace. The campaign will gratefully receive your pledge through Easter Sunday, March 31.
Flower the Cross
All parishioners are invited to bring flowers and greenery from their garden to help flower the cross. This traditional Easter morning activity symbolizes that an instrument of cruel death has become a sign of life and love by the power and grace of God.
Break Your Fast
A continental breakfast will be served in the parish hall between worship services on Easter Sunday. Come end your Lenten fast.
Hunt for Eggs
Children 5th grade and younger are invited to bring their Easter baskets and meet at the crow’s nest across the street on the Brenau lawn (weather permitting) to participate in an egg hunt that will begin immediately following the 11:00 AM service.
On Easter Sunday you will have an opportunity to create a quilt square to add to the community quilt that was started at the Interfaith Retreat on March 9. The fabric squares and fabric pens will be available for you on a table in the parish hall. Bring your favorite prayer or verse to add to this interfaith work of artful comfort.
CE Classes will not meet on Easter Sunday.
The parish office will be closed on Monday, April 1 and Tuesday, April 2.
I wanted to share with you all that Crossroad Publishing Company has put out my first collection of poetry. I am very humbled that they were willing to do this, and it is scheduled to be released on Easter–which feels very appropriate. The forty poems included in this collection all seek to nurture an appreciation of spiritual imagination, which I think is an essential practice in these challenging days. This description is from the back cover:
Poetry gives us permission to live in a different way, and it offers us a language and images to nurture a space within our hearts as we take our next brave steps.
I would love to share a poetry reading and celebration either in late April or early May, and more details will be coming. If you would like to reserve a copy ($10) of the book, I can place a bulk order with Crossroad to have a copy for you at the reading. I’m grateful for this space we all share.
Blessings,
Stuart
Look ahead to upcoming opportunities for prayer, worship, and community!
