Rising 9th-12th graders are invited to join Fr. Brandon and Fr. Stuart on a pilgrimage to explore art and the sacred in New York City, October 12-15, 2024. Since total cost will be dependent upon the number of those attending, please email Fr. Brandon if you and your youth would be interested.
Please remember that the next meeting in our ongoing Outreach/Community Ministry conversations will be this Sunday, July 14, at 9:30 AM in the Parish Hall.
Since the last meeting, the group has narrowed our focus to four key teams: Hispanic Ministries; Health: Mental and Physical; Poverty: Food and Housing; and Education.
These will be the areas we focus on for 2025, and we now look toward organizing the teams and beginning research and planning for the application process.
The next Practically Divine Women’s Book Study will meet from 6:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 17 at Carla Kantola’s home. See your member directory or email Cynthia Park for the address.
It was wonderful to see 90 people (!) gather at NoFo Brew Co. on July 1, and so many had the opportunity to meet each other for the first time. Looking ahead, we will next have the Gwinnett Stripers ballgame on July 19, the BBQ and Bingo on August 7, the Parish Holy Cross Feast Day on Sunday, September 15, fall foyers, and the next fellowship opportunity on Monday, September 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Location to be determined very soon, but save the date!
We see, once again, how important it is to spend time together. We all come from so many backgrounds, and taking time to learn one another’s stories and celebrate our diverse gifts is its own vital spiritual practice. For parents who have wanted spaces for their children and youth to be involved, here are more opportunities! For others who are wondering about how to meet others who are new to the parish (and there are a lot of you!), here is your chance to visit. And for all of us who wonder what it might look like to live together in a grounded and prayerful way, I hope we can take advantage of these opportunities to celebrate our common life.
I am grateful for all those who have wondered and imagined what spaces might be possible!
Blessings,
Stuart
Our June Bingo Night was so much fun we’re doing another one! Plan to join us at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, August 7 for a potluck BBQ dinner and a night filled with laughter and silly prizes. All ages welcome.
Grace will provide pulled pork BBQ and drinks. Please bring a side (e.g. slaw, potato salad, mac & cheese, baked beans, deviled eggs, fruit salad, chips, etc.) or dessert to share.
For food planning purposes we are asking for signups by Sunday, August 4.
Sign up now if you are interested in joining a fall 2024 foyers group!
The women of Grace Church will enjoy a weekend of rejoicing, reflection, and renewal January 17 – 19, 2025 at the Montreat Retreat and Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina.
I invite you to explore sharing in a special pilgrimage in October 2025 to Greece! I will soon begin working to plan a pilgrimage for Grace that is centered around the key aspects of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. More information is forthcoming, but if you are interested, please let me know, and I will begin working with the group to see how we can craft a rich and meaningful experience.
Blessings,
Stuart
Look ahead to upcoming opportunities for prayer, worship, and community!
