News for September 29 – October 5

Blessing of Animals

Grace Episcopal Church and the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia invite you and your pets to a Blessing of Animals on Saturday, October 5 at 4:00 PM. Held each year near the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, the service provides not only an opportunity for our pets to be blessed, but also for us to give thanks for the many blessings we receive through pets and other animals.

We will gather for the service on the Brenau lawn across the street from Grace Church at 431 Washington Street. Pets/domestic animals of all shapes and sizes are welcome, but please provide the appropriate restraint for any animal you bring. Owners are responsible for pet waste.

All who attend are invited to bring a donation for the Humane Society. Monetary donations and gift cards to local pet, grocery, and office supply stores, Walmart, and Target are always welcome. A full wish list can be found on the Humane Society’s website.

Be Thou My Vision

Our annual stewardship campaign has officially kicked off. This year’s theme, Be Thou My Vision: a 20/20 stewardship campaign, encourages us to look more closely at the vision we share and the way we are called to participate in God’s vision for this community and the world.

Pledge cards have been mailed to member households, are available at church, and can also be filled out online. Timely submission is incredibly important to our budgeting process, so your reply by Sunday, November 3 would be greatly appreciated!

Book Signing & Conversation

Fr. Stuart is a co-editor and contributor to the newly published volume Contemplation and Community: A Gathering of Fresh Voices for a Living Tradition. Grace Church will hold a special afternoon reading, signing, and conversation on Sunday, October 6 at 3:00 PM in the Parish Hall.

So that we have a count for refreshments and the number of books to have available for sale at the signing event, please register here if you plan to attend. Attendees at the signing will receive a 10% discount on the purchase of the book from the Cathedral Bookstore.

Please know it is not necessary to purchase a book in order to attend. All are welcome to join us for refreshments and conversation!
