News for May 3: CE, Youth Sunday, Piano Giveaway, and more

Christian Education

Sunday, May 3, is the last day of regular classes for the 2025-2026 church school year! Regular classes will begin again in August.

Consider joining the intergenerational summer study of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring on Sundays from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM over the summer. Details below!

Interested in Owning a Piano from Grace?

Grace is giving away a couple of pianos. The new recipient is kindly asked to make arrangements for the piano to be moved. These pianos are free but if you would like to make a donation to Friends of Music, it would be greatly appreciated.

If you are interested, please contact Director of Music Lynn Swanson.

COHI Q & A

The goal of Community of Hope International (COHI) is to provide training and support to equip its lay chaplains to serve Christ in the Other—safeguarding love wherever we find ourselves. If you are interested in learning more, please stop by the parlor after the 10:45 AM service on May 3 or June 7. Current members will be happy to answer questions.

Children’s Chapel

It is our custom at Grace for Children’s Chapel to take a break during the summer months. The last day will be May 3. The nursery will continue to be available to children age 4 and under during the 10:45 AM worship service.

Caregiver Support Group

The Caregiver Support Group, sponsored by Alzheimer’s Association Georgia, will meet in the youth room instead of the parlor on Tuesday, May 5.

The group meets at 5:30 PM on the first Tuesday each month to provide a space for those caring for dementia patients to relieve stress, find comfort, and share resources. The group is open to all.

Vacation Bible School Registration Now Open

Vacation Bible School is returning to Grace Church this summer! Kids 4 years old – rising 6th grade are invited to join the Snowball Mountain Challenge, June 22-26 from 9 AM to 12 PM.

With a unique winter games theme filled with snowboards and ski lifts and solid theology at its core, this VBS delivers joy and meaning in equal measure, teaching kids that “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NRSV).

Cost is $25 for the first child, $20 each additional child. Registration now open.

Youth Sunday + Bake Sale

Join us on Sunday, May 10 as youth take the lead! This is a special day where our young people share their talents, lead us in worship, and remind us why the future of our parish is so sweet! Don’t forget to stop in the greeting area between services for our bake sale benefiting the 2026 youth pilgrimage to Boston. Whether you have a sweet tooth or a competitive spirit, our Grace youth would love your support!

Volunteers Needed

The Community Food Pantry is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization run by volunteers established for the purpose of assisting local families and individuals who are in need of food. The pantry has provided groceries for the hungry since 1973, serving an average of 2,400 families a year.

We are currently looking for people that are welcoming and friendly to help with the registration of new members. Grace rotates with four other churches therefore we only participate every 10 weeks. It’s a total of two days a week for two weeks on a 10 week rotation. Please contact Joan Leyton if you have questions or are interested in volunteering.
