The Road Lies Before Us
Dear Friends,
A curious thing has happened: some of your fellows have chosen to step onto a road that few begin without being changed by it. Together they will read The Fellowship of the Ring, a tale that may at first appear to be only about hobbits, wandering folk, old songs, and distant lands. Yet the smallest stories often conceal the greatest truths. Beginning May 31st, messages will be sent each Sunday with guidance for the journey ahead and the chapters to be read together. There is no need to race ahead like a Took chasing fireworks; the tale unfolds best when traveled in company.
And if there are others who have not yet joined this fellowship, the door still stands open to them. A company is seldom harmed by the addition of another good-hearted traveler. Below my signature you will find a link for any who wish to add their names to the company and join the journey before us. Read attentively, speak freely, and listen well to one another along the road. You may find that the companions beside you become as meaningful as the story itself. After all, all who wander are not lost.
Until our gathering,
Gandalf
LOTR Summer StudyVacation Bible School is returning to Grace Church this summer! Kids 4 years old – rising 6th grade are invited to join the Snowball Mountain Challenge, June 22-26 from 9 AM to 12 PM.
With a unique winter games theme filled with snowboards and ski lifts and solid theology at its core, this VBS delivers joy and meaning in equal measure, teaching kids that “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13 NRSV).
Cost is $25 for the first child, $20 each additional child. Registration now open.
VBS at GraceI’m still full of deep gratitude for the space we held together last Sunday—for the presence and participation of our youth, for Aidan’s thoughtful homily (which you can find here and on our podcast, Glimpses of Grace), and for the generosity of those who purchased baked goods and made donations toward next fall’s youth pilgrimage to Boston. Thank you for showing up with open hearts and for investing in our young people.
