School Supply Collection Continues

The Outreach Committee has begun their annual school supply drive. Supplies requested are: #2 pencils with erasers, spiral notebooks, glue sticks, blunt tip metal scissors, 16 or 24 ct. Crayola crayons, washable markers, wide rule filler paper, pocket folders with brads, Crayola colored pencils, cap erasers, highlighters, pencil boxes, zip lock bags (sandwich, quart or gallon), hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, index cards, and boxes of facial tissue.

On Sundays, supplies can be left in the wagon in the lower foyer beside the narthex. Supplies can also be put in the bin outside the red double doors of the Grace Center. (Please do not drop donations off in the preschool office.) Checks or online donations will also be accepted. Make checks out to Grace Episcopal Church with “school supplies” noted in the memo line. For online donations, choose outreach as the contribution type and note “school supplies” in the memo box. All donations are requested by Sunday, August 15. Thank you for your continued support of this annual outreach effort!

Church in the Wild

As we reflected together this Spring, this past year and a half has shown us many different perspectives on worship: what does it mean to pray? Where do we pray? What are different practices we can explore? One recurrent theme that I noticed was how many folks were led to explore outside, sensing a way that their prayer could be nourished by nature—even to see how being in nature is prayer! We wondered what it might look like to explore occasional services outside: hence, the idea of the Church in the Wild.

On Saturday, July 31, we will have our first exploration at Vogel State Park. I encourage you to consider taking the time to come share this worship space together as a community. Perhaps you have really needed a bit of time outdoors! We will meet for the day, and I will plan on celebrating Holy Eucharist outside around 3:00 PM. I’ll work with the team on details, but this should give you a broad marker for the day.

It’s important that we spend time together, as we continue to stretch into this new way of being church. I’m grateful for the chance to get outdoors!

Blessings,
Stuart+
