Ministry Contacts Webpage

We are gathering ideas from those who shared in the Ministry Fair earlier this month, and one idea that made immediate sense is to add a page under the “Connect” tab on the parish website that has a list of ministry and committee contacts. That page is now up and running with a few initial parishioner responses!

If you help lead a ministry or committee at Grace and wish to be included on the page as the contact person, reach out to Jennifer Williams and share your name, ministry, and the email address you wish to use.

New Zoom Link for Compline

Please make note that the Zoom link for the Tuesday evening Compline service has changed. The link in the parish newsletter and on our Grace@Home page has been updated. If you’re joining the service from a bookmark saved on your computer or mobile device, don’t forget to update that link!

Special Invitation and Parish Meeting

Fr. Stuart recently emailed a special invitation to “come back to church” as well as attend a parish meeting on Sunday, September 11 from 9:30 – 10:30 AM. If you missed the email, you can view the message and video in this post.

Art & Spirit: A Special Wednesday Evening Event

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, October 5 for a time of art, poetry, wine, music, and celebration!

I had a strange idea for a space that might bring together people from different backgrounds and religious traditions. What would it look like to have a selection of art and poetry that we could celebrate? How might this celebration of art and poetry help us see the threads that connect us, bringing us hope in these days? I have reached out to several folks in the wider community, and I welcome anyone who wants to share their own artwork that we can hang in the parish hall. We will gather at 6:00 PM the evening of October 5 for wine, cheese, and snacks. You are welcome to bring snacks to share as well, for a potluck celebration.

If you want to share a work of art, or if you have a favorite poem you’d like to read, reach out to me at stuart@gracechurchgainesville.org. I will work to hang the artwork on Monday, October 3. And, make sure to come that evening as we celebrate together!

Blessings,
Stuart

New Zoom Links for Yoga

Please note that the Zoom links for Prayer Yoga have changed. The links in the parish newsletter have been updated, but if you were joining the class using a saved bookmark on your device, you’ll need to update that link!

Reception at Lanier Village Estates

Save the Date!! On Tuesday, September 20 at 4:00 PM our Grace parishioners who live at Lanier Village Estates will meet for a soiree at LVE. It turns out there are over fifty Grace folks living at LVE! And, big surprise, the 8:15-ers have never met the 10:45-ers! So, we are looking forward to introducing them all to each other!

2023 Women’s Retreat

Registration continues for the 2023 Women’s Retreat, to be held January 13-15 at the Montreat Retreat and Conference Center in Montreat, North Carolina.

The Rev. Mary Demmler will be our speaker and the theme is “Filling Bellies and Comforting Souls: Ham Biscuits, Deviled Eggs and Pound Cake.”

Join us for a weekend of rejoicing, reflection, and renewal! “Together we’ll explore the making of memory in the kitchen and how cooking can be an act of prayer and meditation. Bring some recipes, bring some stories, and bring your senses as we gather for a weekend of fun. I’m excited to welcome you into the world of my Prayerful Kitchen!” – Mary
