Formation This Fall

I don’t know about you, but I never imagined that we would be away from our building this long. I can’t wait to get back together again! I miss you!

I also never imagined that I would need to know all the things I’ve learned in the last few months. Things like how to participate in and host Zoom meetings and webinars; how to “screen share”, create “breakout rooms,” “create polls,” and use “chat features”; how to record and edit videos; how to “remote in” to the office computers; how to use cloud storage platforms; how to find online resources for stuff I took for granted….and so much more!

In addition to learning new “stuff,” I’ve learned lots of new ways of doing things and new ways of being together. My family has a video chat first thing every Tuesday morning. I’ve attended professional conferences that were completely online. I’ve attended webinars, virtual cocktail parties, countless classes and meetings– even a Zoom painting class! I’ve learned that while I’d rather get together in person, my soul is nourished by intentional time with others—even if it’s not in person. I wonder if you’ve had a similar experience? Or if you’re so tired of being stuck at home, you’re ready to give it a shot?

At Grace, there are more than 17 small groups and classes meeting online. There’s the 9:00 AM worship service, Zoompline, Fr. Stuart’s Tuesday class, Chair yoga, Flow yoga, Centering prayer, the Monday morning men’s group, Choir check in, Daughters of the King, Community of Hope, Help Court, book studies, and so much more!

This fall, we’d like to create more opportunities for small groups to study and learn together, with chances to meet at times convenient to the participants (online when necessary, and in person when possible). Weekly lessons could be posted online for self-study, with periodic group meetings (weekly, bi-weeky, monthly, etc.) as agreed upon by the participants.

We’ve got some ideas for courses of study, but we’d like to hear from you about your interests. Please take a moment to complete the survey below by Wednesday, August 19, to allow us to prepare and begin after Labor Day.
