Christian Education Begins August 10

Looking at the next few weeks, here is a helpful note about the beginning of Christian Education and Spiritual Formation for this fall.

Given that new rhythms generally begin with the new school year, teachers would like to try moving the start of Christian Ed a little earlier this year! We will begin classes for children and youth on Sunday, August 10. This will give us time to get settled before we take Labor Day weekend off. Look for more details about classes and schedules with children and youth!

As for adults, we will begin in August with a series of conversations and tours. Here is the schedule for the Sunday forum spaces:

August 10 Come share in a conversation about the importance of nurturing our practice of prayer. We will focus on the opportunities available to the parish around spiritual direction (with Sister Genevieve Lynn and Cheryl Kelley), and we will also explore the upcoming Charis Circle frameworks that will focus on shared meditation, reflective reading, and interspiritual relationships.

August 17 Come share in a tour of the newly renovated campus. We will begin in the Parish Hall for an overview and then we will move around the campus to highlight various areas. Newer ones to Grace are highly encouraged to attend! (And it is highly likely that there will be prizes of some sort).

August 24 Come share in a tour of the nave with Jason Voyles, our head verger, and Stuart. If you have ever wondered what a purificator has to do with the aumbry, now is your time to explore. This session will be very helpful in highlighting the key points of Anglican/Episcopal worship and history.

August 31 We will gather with any who are here in the Parish Hall for a conversation around the topics of the prior weeks.

September 7 We will begin our regularly-scheduled Sunday Forum times with a conversation around Netanel Miles-Yepez’s work The Common Heart: An Experience of Interreligious Dialogue. We will structure these sessions as both an introductory space for those who are new(er) to Grace and The Episcopal Church as well as those who have been here for a while. I strongly encourage adults to come to these, as we continue to reflect on how we make meaning in our lives through our practice of prayer.

The Parenting with Grace class will also begin on August 10. That group meets in the conference room of the Grace Center.

Blessings to all,
Stuart

CE classes will meet most Sundays from 9:30 – 10:30 AM beginning August 10.
