Daughters of the King Discernment

begins Wednesday, August 17

If you have noticed some parishioners wearing a very distinct Greek Fleury cross you may wonder who they are. The cross is inscribed in Latin, “Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine” which translated means “With heart, mind and spirit, uphold and bear the cross.” It is an outward and visible sign of a deep and inward vow we take to become a Daughter of the King.

Daughters of the King is an Order, founded by Margaret J. Franklin in 1885, for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church. There are chapters in the United States, Africa, Asia, Europe, Central America, South America and the Caribbean Basin. As Daughters we undertake A Rule of Life, A Rule of Prayer and Service, and Evangelism. Our Grace Chapter was established in 1940, currently with 42 members. We meet the second Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM in the Grace Center Conference Room.

On August 17, at 4:00 PM in the Grace Center Conference Room, we will be offering a new class for any interested in discerning membership to our Order. We will meet several weeks as we work through the orientation guide for study. After completing the class you may decide if you wish to take a vow to become a member of the Order.
