Building Fund Campaign - 2001 |
| Expanding the Ministries of Grace Church |
|
In the spring of 2001, Grace Church began an ambitious building fund campaign in order to raise the funds necessary to EXPAND THE MINISTRIES OF GRACE CHURCH. The first goal of the campaign was to purchase and renovate a property adjacent to the existing campus. It's acquisition in December of 2001 added an 8,677 square foot building and .84 acres to the campus, providing much needed space for expansion. As satisfying as attaining our goal was, purchasing the building was not the end of the process—it was rather the beginning, the First Step. As stewards of this property, and all the other resources of Grace Church, we are called to manage and utilize them so as to best accomplish the mission and ministries of our growing parish church. It’s not the buildings that are important—it’s what takes place within them—and within our own hearts and minds as we seek to live out the promises of our Baptismal Covenant. In order to best utilize our new property for the mission of the church, renovations of the new building began in May of 2002 - this was the second step of the campaign. The new building houses classrooms and multi-purpose rooms for the youth, as well as the parish administrative offices. The Grace Center was connected to the rest of the facility and the old parish offices were renovated to provide additional music and worship support space. Funds raised in the building fund campaign were used to purchase new carpet and paint for the Parish Hall, expand and renovate a new Greeting Area, and purchase new equipment and furnishings. A new sound system was installed in the nave and new chairs are being enjoyed in the Parish Hall. In February of 2002 we dedicated our first sacristy flower cooler, as well as an American and an Episcopal flag - in memory and honor of some well loved parishioners. The Third Step of the original proposal involves extending the present choir balcony by 13 feet and providing air conditioning for the choir loft. Our electronic organ will be sold and a new pipe organ will fulfill the dream of all music lovers at Grace. These plans will be made a reality as additional pledges are received. If you have questions about the Building Fund Campaign, or would like to make a donation, please contact the church for information. It is hard to believe that back in 1991 Grace Church had to hold three worship services on Sunday mornings because the nave was too small. Our parish hall back then could accommodate maybe 50 people and the church boasted a single bathroom! If you look around today you will see a sanctuary that will seat around 400 and a parish hall that will hold a couple hundred people. Yet we continue to grow and our physical needs for the future are just as acute as they were a decade ago. As this current building fund drive grows and we progress with this comprehensive project, we will EXPAND THE MINISTRIES OF GRACE CHURCH! 2002 A.D. |
