Grace is
partnering with First Baptist, First Methodist, First
Presbyterian and Prince of Peace Catholic churches, Cargill, and Habitat
of Hall to build two houses in the Black and Cooley drives
neighborhood of Gainesville. This effort is a part of a
redevelopment project for the neighborhood that has been
underway for several years, co-sponsored by the county,
the local
governmental
redevelopment corporation and Habitat of Hall. It is a most
exciting project and it’s time to get started!
Habitat workdays are Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Saturdays beginning at 8:30 AM and lunch is
provided on Saturdays. All welcome! Come when you can; depart
when you must.
Directions to Cooley
Drive house: Head out of Gainesville on E. E. Butler
Parkway, like you are going to Athens. Turn left on M. L. King
Blvd., just past St. John’s Baptist Church. Take an immediate
right onto Athens Street. Cooley Drive is about one mile down on
the right, just after the W. Ridge Road intersection. It’s easy
to miss, but it is marked. The lot is on the right after turning
onto Cooley Drive. Park on the street.
Grace Church broke ground on
September 21, 2003
for our first house built in partnership with
Habitat for Humanity of Hall County. Our second house was
completed in just 4 months - September 2004 to January 2005.
On Sunday, December 17, 2006, our third house was dedicated in
memory of Ned Gignilliat, a long time member of our church
and an enthusiastic volunteer in our previous Habitat efforts. Grace Church is blessed to be a part
of the good work Habitat
for Humanity is doing in our community.
If you'd like to support this outreach effort, please consider
purchasing a copy of “A Taste of Grace” cookbook for $17.
Pick up a copy for your family, and a few to give as gifts. All
proceeds from the sale of the cookbook go toward our current and
future Habitat for Humanity outreach projects.
