August 13, 2006

As the accompanying picture shows,
we are making very good progress on our third Habitat House. The
roof trusses were installed on Saturday, August 12 and work on
the roof decking will soon be underway. This means that the
house will be “dried in,” which means that the electrical and
plumbing systems can be installed, followed by sheetrock,
woodwork, fixtures, paint and flooring. We are on schedule to
finish the house in November!
Building Habitat houses is one of the ways our church
facilitates “hands on” outreach and service. Therefore, every
member of Grace is invited to be a part of this work. There is
something that everyone can do; you don’t have to be an
experienced carpenter or builder to work on our Habitat House;
if you can’t swing a hammer, then providing lunch for the
Saturday workers is a great way to help out. So simply sign up
and show up. The weekly sign up sheet for workers and food
providers is on the Habitat table in the Greeting Area.

Groundbreaking - June 25, 2006

We gathered on Sunday, June
25 at 4:00 PM to mark the beginning
of this important work of outreach and service. Our third Habitat for Humanity House will be built
in memory of Ned Gignilliat, a long time member of our church
and an enthusiastic volunteer in our previous Habitat efforts.
