The
Reverend Doug Dailey, Rector
The
Reverend Doug Dailey became the rector of Grace Church in the
summer of 2002. Before coming to Grace, he served as the rector
of Trinity Church, Statesville, NC for nine years. Doug grew up
in Charlotte and Atlanta and graduated from Riverwood High
School in Sandy Springs in 1974. After college at Emory
University, he worked as a banker in downtown Atlanta for five
years. It was during this time that he joined the Episcopal
Church and felt an attraction and calling to ordained ministry.
In the fall of 1985, Doug and his family moved to England where
he undertook his theological studies. He was awarded a degree in
Theology by the University of Nottingham in 1988 and ordained by
the Church of England. After serving as an assistant in a parish
in Herefordshire for three years, Doug returned to the US with
his family. He was the associate rector of Church of the
Ascension, Hickory, NC for two years before receiving the call
to Statesville.
Doug's wife Judi is a
registered nurse and specializes in neo-natal care. She works at
Northeast Georgia Medical Center in the Intensive Care Nursery.
Doug and Judi have three daughters: Jennifer, Sarah,
and Christina. The
Reverend Michael McCann, Priest Associate
Born in Missouri, Michael grew up
in New Jersey and attended Haverford College in Pennsylvania,
and received his BA in History in 1968. He received his Masters
of Divinity in New Testament and Theology from Harvard Divinity
School in 1971. He then was ordained in the Diocese of
Massachusetts and began his Episcopal ministry at St.
Chrysostom’s in Wollaston, Massachusetts. In 1974 he was became
Rector of Trinity Church in Hampton, NH. In 1980 he came to
Grace Church as Assistant Rector. In 1987 Michael left Grace and
began full time teaching at Lakeview Academy where he is now
chair of the social studies department and sponsor of the Honor
Council. At Grace Michael has taught puppetry, Centerpoint
Jungian classes, EFM, and evening Bible study, and continues to
lead Sunday morning Adult Bible study classes. He is married to
Candy E. McCann, a physical therapist for the Hall County
Schools and a certified Music Practitioner harpist working with Hospice, and
a member of Daughters of the King and the Help Committee. Their
children are scattered about the country, Chris married and
writing in Seattle, Sarah a poet and teaching and holding the
chair of creative writing at St. Mark’s School in Southborough,
Massachusetts, Dan married and editing films in San Francisco,
and Amy a photographer and graphic designer in Baltimore.
