Centering Prayer is an ancient form of Christian Contemplative Prayer that until recently was mostly lost from everyday use. The prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with him. It is not designed to replace other types of prayer but to cast a new light and depth of meaning on them.

The workshop is sponsored by Contemplative Outreach Ltd. and will be presented by The Rev. Tom Ward in four parts, two of which include practice in Centering Prayer. Rev. Ward is retired Dean of the Chapel in Sewanee, Tennessee and now presents Centering Prayer workshops full time.
