Annual Stewardship Campaign

Together, We Are Grace.

Each year, the parish community makes a commitment to live into God’s call for our lives, and we embody this participation in our operating budget.

Our stewardship theme this year is “Together, we are Grace.” It invites us to reflect on how we understand our connection with one another as the Body of Christ in this particular place.

Looking back at this parish’s history, can we imagine all the connections and prayers that have happened at pivotal moments in this community’s life? Can we imagine how the people of Grace have depended on one another as they faced struggles and also celebrated the joys of their lives together? For 196 years now, the Spirit has woven thousands of lives together in the community that is Grace Episcopal Church.

In the past year, our ministries and staff have grown, and renovation work has begun on the Grace Center building. We have welcomed dozens of new parishioners as they continue to explore how the Spirit is moving in their lives. We have much to celebrate, and this year’s stewardship campaign gives us an opportunity to reflect on how we can all support our common life.

Stewardship campaigns are about much more than raising funds together to support the full scope of the parish’s budget. The budget is the way that we collectively say how we are hoping to embody God’s love in our life—in many different ways. Last year’s pledge total was $1,061,944 and we need at least that amount to continue supporting the growth of the community.

Our campaign begins on Sunday, September 17, which is the Feast of the Holy Cross, our parish feast day. It will conclude on November 5, which is All Saints Sunday. After that time, the vestry will begin making follow up calls to the parish as a whole, as the Finance Committee begins working on the draft of the budget to present to the vestry.

If you have any questions about the budget, please feel free to reach out to us. The budget helps tell our story, and we are happy to share what we have experienced! We hope you will prayerfully consider how you can share in this pivotal part of our common life at Grace Episcopal Church.

Sincerely,

Sonja McLendon, Senior Warden
The Rev. Dr. Stuart Higginbotham, Rector
